Is it possible that I never posted anything about last year's fabulous Art in the Park? Let me just say it was incredible...I loved planning it with a wonderful group of women, designing and fabricating it with the help of generous craftsmen, and then prepping, installing, and ultimately, engaging the community to embellish! LOVE it...

Wellesley, MA, May 2, 2017 –
Wellesley Women Artisans Organize 5th Annual Art in the Park
as part of Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend
Wellesley Women Artisans is pleased to announce the 5th annual Art in the Park community art event to
be held in Simons Park (directly adjacent to the Wellesley Free Library) on
Saturday May 20, 2017 from 1-4pm. This community event, organized in
collaboration with Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend, is designed to promote
creativity and is accessible to all ages, featuring different mediums and
materials each year.
Our project this year will result in
a large-scale community message of LOVE. By decorating and collaging scrap wood
and found materials into this simple message of unification, participants will
have the opportunity to express themselves, have fun, and leave their imprint
on a community made collage piece.
Wellesley Women Artisans started the
free annual event in 2013 with the idea of building community while tapping
into Wellesley’s creative side. In previous years, visitors have painted
recycled record albums, woven fabric onto discarded picture frames, and drawn
portraits of their Wellesley neighbors.
All materials are provided at the
event and the finished art piece remains on public view for weeks. The event is
made possible by the generous support of Wellesley’s Natural Resources
Commission, Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club and Wellesley Cultural Council,
a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a
state agency.
